Briar Hunter and Cody Osiecki, from Manitouwadge, won Mixed Doubles Saturday. Hunter and Osiecki as well as Hudson Hunter and Chelsea Malakoff who took second in Mixed Doubles this weekend, are members of the Wolverines’ Badminton team which will this season, defend the title of NSSSAA Badminton Champions MHS has held for a decade! MANITOUWADGE, ON – Friday, February 28th and Saturday, March 1st, athletes from Manitouwadge, Marathon and Hornepayne attended Manitouwadge High School to compete in the 2014 MHS Invitational Badminton Tournament. This annual tournament is another important fundraiser for the high school’s athletes who qualify to represent the school at regional and provincial level championships.
Approximately 50 players competed in the two-day tournament, which was double-elimination for Men’s and Ladies’ Singles and Doubles and triple-elimination for the Mixed Doubles teams all competitors had a 3 game guarantee.
