- Spring Clean Up services: Annual Spring Clean Up – May 26 to May 30, 2014Each spring the Public Works Department designates one week to provide a special waste collection to residents. Household items can be placed at curb-side on the regularly scheduled waste collection day. Arrangements to pick up large items can be made by notifying the Public Services Department at 1-807-854-1100 ext 2029 or any Ward Office in advance of the designated Spring Clean Up week.
Eligible items for pick up during Spring Clean Up Week are: all furnishings, mattresses, carpeting, large appliances*, bicycles, yard furniture and equipment, BBQ’s and electronics. Yard waste is to be bagged. Wooden boxes, crates, branches and yard trimmings shall be securely tied in managable bundles weighing no more than 50lbs.
*Refrigeration appliances must be marked with a sticker from either 1.) a certified technician declaring the Freon has been removed from the unit, or 2.) the Municipal Administration Office verifying payment of the disposal fee for the unit.
Waste Collection Maps & Calendars
The calendars provided indicate collection days for garbage collection routes. Reference the Maps to identify your Area (collection route), and view the corresponding calendar. In the event of a statutory holiday, collection for the affected day is usually postponed for pickup later the same week. Although we try to avoid advanced collection, routes that are normally conducted on a Friday may be conducted on the Thursday prior, in the event a Statutory Holiday falls on the Friday. Regular hours for all municipal landfill sites are included in the calendar. Holiday schedules may affect landfill hours of operation, which can be confirmed by calling the local Ward office.
