Thunder Bay District Crimestoppers – Crime Of The Week : 25 break & enters
Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers and the OPP are asking for your help in solving 25 Break & Enters that occurred in the Rural Thunder Bay areas of Boreal Rd and Hwy 527.
Sometime between November 22nd 2013 and December 2nd 2013 unknown suspect(s) broke into camps off the Boreal Rd at Mark’s Lake, Hoof Lake and Batwing Lake. They also went up Hwy 527 and hit camps on Pete’s Lake, Escape Lake, Decourcey Lake, and Max Lake.
The value of the stolen property totals approximately $50,000.00 and includes the thefts of 17 guns:
4 –Lee Enfield, 303 calibre, bolt action, rifles
1 – Savage, 30/06 calibre, single shot, bolt action, rifle
1 – Remington, 30/06 calibre, semi-automatic,rifle
1 – Savage, 22 calibre, bolt action, rifle with 10 round magazine
1 – Mossberg & Sons, 22 calibre, rifle
1 – Cooey, 22 calibre, bolt action, rifle
1 – Winchester, 30/30 calibre, lever action, rifle
1 – Savage, 270 calibre, rifle
1 – Remington Model 700, 300 calibre, rifle
1 – Riverside, 20 gauge, shot gun
1 – Winchester Model 810, 12 gauge, pump action shot gun
1 – Marlin, 12 gauge, 3 shot, bolt action, shot gun
1 – Mossberg & Sons, 410 gauge, shot gun
1 – Savage, 410 gauge, bolt action, shot gun
Also stolen were several boxes of ammunition, 1 Grizzley air rifle with scope, generators, boat motors, ice augers, fishing equipment, tools, TV’s, stereo’s, gas trimmer’s and numerous other items.
The estimated value of the items stolen and the property damage is approximately $50,000.00
Crime Stoppers want to remind camp owners to keep their camps locked and do not leave any valuables behind when you close the camp for the winter. To eliminate thefts of firearms, the OPP suggest the storage of firearms should be at your residence and not your seasonal cottages.
We want the public to be aware of Section 86.1 of the Criminal Code of Canada. This act is for proper and safe storage of firearms and ammunition.

The 25th Annual Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers Charity Hockey Game will be held on Thursday, January 2nd, 2014 at the Fort William Gardens. The Police All Stars will take on the Thunder Bay Senators/Thunder Bay Thunder Cats Alumni.
The doors will open at 5:45 pm, opening ceremony begins at 6:30 with a full honour guard and the puck drops at 7:15 pm. Admission is free with a cash donation being accepted to help support the Thunder Bay District Crime Stoppers Program.
