Thank you all!!….again!
Maybe our Bazaar on November 22, 2013 was what they call a “Christmas Miracle”. Or maybe it is the usual way Wawa does it, whatever it may be.
The fine array of donated items which went way beyond the penny sale to become a silent auction and a white elephant and the gigantically full basket for the draw is a testament to the kindness of so many who do such things on a regular basis in Wawa. Our success on the day is also due to our volunteers who are both hard working and experienced. In two weeks our regular Drop In décor went from blah basic to bravo seasonal, the heaps of things became an arranged display of attractive and enticing goodies, and all the bits of sales things got applied with the furniture rearranged.
On Bazaar Day, the two big tables covered in the seasonal red table cloths became a feast for all. And, for about two hours, the bake sale table kept being replenished! The ovens of Wawa are a cornucopia of goodies at any time and the seasonal products are even better.
And I am reminded that there is a whole category for whom my thank you must be loud and clear: Wawa business people, your donations to our bazaar were marvelous!
And on the day…out came the many of you to support us with your enthusiasm and your funds. “Christmas Miracles” may just be a little bit mis-named!
And now we go back to regular business: bridge, cribbage or euchre and socializing. We also get to have our regular monthly meeting with our birthday celebration of cake and ice cream. The ice cream is courtesy of Young’s General Store (Click to visit website). For which we thank them now and for a few months into the future.
Our December meeting, on Wednesday, the 11th at 2:00p.m. will begin with a guest speaker: Valerie Fahrer, the managing director of P M Gilmartin Funeral Home Ltd., will be presenting information of interest to many of us or our families. She will speak for about 30 minutes and answer questions you may have. Feel free to bring family members if they need to know or are interested.
