Ontario Government Boosting Local Economy, Creating Jobs
Ontario is helping to build a stronger, more diverse economy while creating 52 jobs in the Greenstone area.
With support of $1 million from the province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation(NOHFC), Havilah Holdings is establishing a new manufacturing plant in Geraldton. This innovative facility will produce energy-efficient insulated panels that are recyclable, made from organic materials and resistant to mould and heat. The NOHFC is also supporting three other projects that are helping grow the region’s economy:
- First General Services in Longlac is receiving $125,000 to start up a restoration services business for people affected by wind, flood and fire damage.
- The Municipality of Greenstone is using a $100,000 contribution to evaluate find ways to capitalize on new mineral development projects.
- The Biinjitiwaabik Zaaging Anishinaabek First Nation, located on the southeast shore of Lake Nipigon, is receiving $40,500 to draft an economic development plan.
Investing in northern business expansion is part of the government’s Growth Plan for Northern Ontario and its economic plan to invest in people, invest in modern infrastructure and support a dynamic and innovative business climate.
