St. Martin Students Walking for Water
By Mandy Godin for St. Martin School
TERRACE BAY, ON – After the students of St. Martin School experienced firsthand the challenges in obtaining water by the girls of Ngosuani, they decided to take the experience one step further.
November 1st at 10:40 am the students from Grade 3-8 participated in Walking for Water, which consisted of walking a predetermined route in Terrace Bay carrying one or several water pack(s). Their hope was to draw awareness to the plight of the many children in the world, as well as raise funds for their well project. The support for the students was demonstrated throughout the walk by community members through a variety of responses. Through this initiative and the support of the community the students raised a total of $1,174 to put towards the well project in Ngosuani.
