FSC Assessment of the Big Pic Forest in North-Central Ontario
The Rainforest Alliance will conduct a forest management assessment of Nawiinginokiima Forest Management Corporation’s (NFMC) forestry operations on the Big Pic Forest in the vicinity of Marathon and Manitouwadge, Ontario at the end of November, 2013.
Rainforest Alliance will assess aspects of NFMC’s forest management in these areas based on the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) National Boreal Standard. Based on the assessment, Rainforest Alliance will determine whether NFMC will be issued a FSC certificate for these forest operations.
Four assessors, including two foresters and two environmental specialists will conduct the assessment between November 25 and December 6, 2013. They will be on-site from November 25 through November 29, 2013.
Interested individuals and organizations are invited to provide comments about NFMC’s operations on the Big Pic Forest (all comments received will be kept confidential within the assessment team) by:

- Talking with the assessors during the audit period to provide information. This can be arranged by:
- contacting Jeremy Williams by e-mail or at the numbers above; or
- meeting with the FSC assessment team at public meeting on Tuesday November 26th, 7:00pm at KG’s bar in Manitouwadge (6 Mississauga Dr, Manitouwadge, ON), or
