Ontario Supporting Small Business Expansion, Creating Jobs
Ontario is helping to build a stronger, more diverse northern economy while creating jobs in Marathon, Schreiber and Terrace Bay.
I am very pleased that our government is again demonstrating its firm commitment to Northern Ontario by investing in these significant local projects. The NOHFC continues to be a key tool for building a stronger, more competitive economy, with prosperous northern communities.” Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines and Chair of the NOHFC
With support from the province’s Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC), four economic development projects are helping strengthen the regional economy and create five new jobs:
- P.J.’s Café in Schreiber is receiving $125,000 to build a 30-seat restaurant downtown, creating three full-time jobs.
- The Town of Terrace Bay is using a $50,000 contribution to complete a waterfront development study.
- Cast To You, a retail store in Marathon, is receiving $24,850 for a bait, tackle, fishing and camping-products business.
- School of Rock, a music school in Marathon, is getting $17,255 to purchase musical instruments and other equipment.
Investing in northern business expansion is part of the government’s Growth Plan for Northern Ontario and its economic plan to invest in people, invest in modern infrastructure and support a dynamic and innovative business climate.
