MANITOUWADGE, ON – October 29th and 30th, Manitouwadge residents of all ages, attended the “Walk of Terror” hosted by the Township’s Community Services Department. For just $5/person attendees walked through a path that led around the auditorium, down the stairs to the basement, around the open area past the Oasis Pool counter, through the ladies change room, back out of the Oasis Pool area down the narrow corridor next to the fitness club and the ended just past the fitness club door – a route that seemed much longer in the dark with unpredictable scares around every corner and disturbing noises throughout!
An impressive 76 people braved the ‘Walk of Terror’ Tuesday, while an additional 65 waited in line to travel through in groups of 4-5 people on Wednesday; a perfect preparation for Halloween Thursday and a great way for adults and older kids to get in on the Halloween fun. There were a few repeat groups who remained impressed on their second time through on Wednesday as the goblins and ‘scarers’ had switched locations and changed up some of their frights from Tuesday evening.
Admission fees are collected to improve on the 2014 walk explained Community Programmer Shawna Patterson as she plans “to keep growing it and making it bigger and scarier’ – attendees seem to overwhelmingly agree that Patterson, and her team of volunteers, had indeed succeeded in raising the scare threshold from 2012, all those OntarioNewsNorth.com spoke to assuring they would return in 2014 to be scared again.
Congratulations to all those involved in this unique and fun community event on another year of successfully scaring their neighbours!
