Public Libraries Week Events This Week at the Manitouwadge Public Library
MANITOUWADGE, ON – Staff of the Manitouwadge Public Library encourage residents to visit this week as they celebrate Public Libraries Week 2013 with special events and programs every day [Monday-Thursday between 6:30 & 8:30pm and Saturday from 1-4:30pm].
Community Access Program (CAP) Student Shelby Malakoff has planned a full week of events intended to promote the wide variety of services and programs the library offers, to children and adults, at no cost [Scroll down to watch interview w/Malakoff where she explains in more details]. Included in the fun Malakoff has planned for those who attend are introductions to:
- Learning to use electronic readers, aka e-readers, (like Kobo™, iPhones™, tablets and Victor Readers®) and the long, seemingly endless list, of free books, newspapers, magazine and more that can be borrowed electronically from the library on Monday
- Mango Languages® on Tuesday; more than 50 languages are available to learn from the practical like French, Chinese or Spanish to languages that are more for entertainment value like ‘Pirate’
- Wednesday Malakoff will be helping visitors explore their roots and map family trees on Ancestry.com which is accessed free at the library
- Using Inter-library loans to request and borrow books from other libraries across the province is the focus on Thursday
- Saturday wraps up this exciting week with additional information on any of the services and programs visited during the week.
With so much to learn and do the Manitouwadge Public Library will certainly be a busy place this week! Of course the library is also open during regular daytime hours with other staff members eager to share their know-how.
