MANITOUWADGE, ON – Thursday, October 17th, Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School held it’s annual invitational cross-country run on Ski Hill Road, 3km of winding, gravel road. Temperatures were near ideal, a bit chilly but at least no snow or rain. In addition to students from Our Lady of Lourdes (Superior North Catholic District School Board) there were also competitors from Ecole Publique Franco-Manitou (Conseil Scolaire Publique du Grand Nord de l’Ontario) and one runner from Manitouwadge Public School (Superior-Greenstone District School Board).
The athletes were cheered on by their peers, parents and friends, many of these having signs of encouragement they had made themselves. Coaches and organizers Lise Foucault-Clark and Aaron Baker assisted with starts and timing, starting times being stagered with students grouped by divisions Primary, Junior and Intermediate.
Congratulations to all those who participated, challenging themselves to give their best possible times. After the race had finished, everyone was invited back to Our Lady of Lourdes where all competitors received certificates and top three in each division of boys or girls were recognized with medals.
