Thunderstorms moving in from Northeast Minnesota have the potential to become severe this afternoon as they move slowly northeast across the region.
Torrential downpours giving local rainfall amounts near 50 mm in an hour or less and intense lightning are quite possible. Large hail and wind gusts to 75 km/h are also possible this afternoon.
Motorists should be prepared for sudden low visibility in heavy downpours and ponded water in poorly drained areas making driving conditions difficult.
