Premier Brings Focus On Job Creation to Thunder Bay

Ontario Government Committed to Growing Regional Economies Across the Province

“Connecting with people in Thunder Bay and across the province is a key priority for me and my government. We are committed to listening to diverse perspectives so that we can determine the best way to help create jobs, grow the economy and help people in their everyday lives.” said Premier Wynne in regards to the visit.

Premier Kathleen Wynne chaired a jobs roundtable in Thunder Bay today as she continued her tour of Northern Ontario.

Premier Wynne heard from local business leaders about how the government can help them grow and create more jobs. It was one of more than a dozen roundtables held across the province to help strengthen regional economies and create jobs. She also participated in Finance Minister Charles Sousa’s public consultation, which took place immediately following the roundtable.

Premier Wynne also toured the city’s new Consolidated Courthouse, and visited the NorWest Community Health Centres. Tomorrow, she will greet students at Woodcrest Public School while they head back to classes for the first day of school.

I’m delighted that the Premier has the opportunity to have this discussion with important local business leaders who continue to create opportunities to uphold and strengthen the economic development of Northern Ontario.” Michael Gravelle, Minister of Northern Development and Mines

Providing the right climate to attract investment, create jobs and strengthen regional economies is part of the Ontario government’s plan to build a prosperous and fair province for everyone.

“We are focused on creating jobs and boosting economic growth across the province while continuing to work to balance the budget. Our plan builds on strong economic fundamentals and helps create the environment for businesses to thrive and grow.” Charles Sousa, Minister of Finance
