Marathon OPP Charge Motorist With Drinking And Driving

MARATHON ON  – Saturday September 14, 2013 officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon detachment and Anishinabek Police Service (APS) were notified of a possible impaired male that left the community center in Pic River First Nation in a vehicle. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 627 north of the community and upon speaking to the driver detected a strong odour of alcohol on his breath.

Police demanded a roadside breath sample and the driver registered a fail. The driver was arrested and returned to the Marathon OPP detachment for further breath samples.

Barry PITTMAN, 51, from Marathon ON was charged with Over 80 and released from custody with a court date of November 7, 2013 in Marathon Ontario.

Motorists who drink and drive are subject to drivers licence suspensions, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs.
