Fire Situation Update Northwest Region
No new fires were confirmed in the region on September 4 and there were no new fires confirmed on September 3.
Active Fires
Sixteen fires remain active in the Northwest Region.
There are two monitored fires in Quetico Provincial Park and one monitored fire on an island on Lake of the Woods.
The Nipigon and Sioux Lookout Districts are monitoring longstanding fires in the Far North, while the Red Lake District continues to keep an eye on Red Lake Fire 31.
All fires are showing minimal signs of life and are not posing a risk to people or property.
Fire Hazard
The pleasant combination of light winds, sunny skies and cool temperatures has increased the forest fire hazard to moderate for the region.
Out of Province Deployment – Montana
Monday August 26, 2013 the program sent a large deployment of FireRangers and overhead staff from Ontario to the State of Montana to help support their forest fire suppression efforts. The total number of personnel currently in Montana is 109 people. This deployment will last for 19 days which includes travel to and from Montana.
