MANITOUWADGE, ON– Thursday, September 19th the Township of Manitouwadge Community Services Department hosted its annual Common Registration Night an opportunity for businesses and organizations offering activities and programs. Several organizations without programming were also in attendance using the opportunity to promote their services and gain visibility in the community including Parks Canada employee Sera Orcoyen from Pukaskwa National Park, Superior North Victim Services’ Manitouwadge volunteers, and Crime Stoppers.
Among the educational organizations in attendance and offering more information about their programs were Elizabeth Wheadon from Contact North, Instructors Chris Leduc and Sabrina Leduc from the Manitouwadge Learning Centre (Centre de Formation), Board President Danielle Panaanen from the Manitouwadge Nursery School and students representing the Manitouwadge High School’s Athletic Association.
Among those organizations or groups accepting registrations were the Manitouwadge Minor Hockey Association, Manitouwadge Curling Club and Sydney Courtemanche who is offering dance lessons to kids from 3 to 12 yrs of age in collaboration with Community Services. The latter program was filling up very quickly offering an option to girls and boys interested in ballet, jazz, or other dance genres. Sydney explained that she had participated in a number of dance camps during the summer and was looking forward to sharing her newly learned skills.
