Every sport has its key moment- that decisive event that changed the future of the game. In 1947, when Jackie Robinson set foot onto a baseball field wearing the number 42 for the Brooklyn Dodgers, Major League Baseball had its key moment. Jackie Robinson was the first African American to play professional baseball during an era where racism was unfortunately still at its peak. Robinson paved the way for future generations of African American ball players including legendary icons like Hank Aaron, Willie Mays, Ken Griffey Jr. and Ernie Banks. This week’s headline new release, “42”, pays homage to Jackie Robinson and his journey to becoming a hero. There are eight new releases this week with a brief description of each below;

Evil Dead: starring Jane Levy and Shiloh Fernandez – Five friends head to a remote cabin, where they discover the “Book of the Dead” which leads them to unwittingly summon up demons living in the nearby woods. (Horror) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
Riddle: starring Elisabeth Harnois and Val Kilmer – A college student is drawn to the mysterious small town of Riddle, Pennsylvania in search of her missing brother. Against the will of the local Sheriff and town elder, she begins to unravel a shocking mystery connected to an abandoned psychiatric hospital on the edge of town. (Thriller) (DVD)
Attack from Beneath: A scientist sends a trio of robots into the deep sea in search of a missing oil rig. Not only do the robots find the mangled oil rig, but also the monster that brought it down. (Sci-Fi) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
Bad Kids Go to Hell: starring Judd Nelson – On a stormy Saturday, a mystery unfolds as six students begin to meet horrible fates while serving detention. Guido: starring Billy Zane – An Iraqi immigrant hit man gets mixed up in a deal gone bad and is forced to transport a corpse across the country, with several assassins and the FBI on his trail. (Action) (DVD)
Wild Bill: starring Charlie Creed-Miles – A man is released from prison after serving 8 years, only to discover that his two sons have been abandoned by their mother. With Social Services on their trail, the boys force the man to stay with them by using blackmail and a series of schemes and plots ensue. (Comedy/Drama) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
