MARATHON, ON – Tuesday July 23 2013, sometime before 9:00 am, an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) was westbound on Wabikoba Lake Road with a lone male occupant. The driver veered to avoid a falling tree and lost control of the ATV. The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Officers from the Marathon/Manitouwadge detachments of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to the call along with Superior North EMS and Manitouwadge Fire department. An OPP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene and conducted an investigation. The male driver was identified as J. Normand NOEL, 55 years old, from Marathon ON.
A post mortem is scheduled to determine cause of death.
