6th Annual Bass Blast At Rainbow Falls This Saturday
TERRACE BAY, ON –Officers from the Schreiber OPP detachment will be helping kids cast a line this summer during the 6th Annual Bass Blast, Saturday, July 6. Organized by the Ministry of Natural Resources, Nipigon District, and Schreiber Ontario Provincial Police, the event will take place from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm on the East Beach of Rainbow Falls Provincial Park.
Participants can look forward to all sorts of fishing fun and games, a BBQ lunch, giveaways, and prizes for the kids. Anglers are asked to bring their own fishing gear, including a personal flotation device. However, there will be free bait and a limited number of rods, reels, PFDs and canoes to borrow on a first-come-first-serve basis. Parents may bring their own boats to enjoy the sights and get to those hard to reach fishing holes in Whitesand Lake.
The Bass Blast focuses on having fun while fishing and is not a competitive event. This year the grand prize will be given randomly to a child who participates in a “ Fire Safety Challenge”. As well, OPP and Conservation Officers along with “Smokey the Bear” will be on hand throughout the day in boat and on shore to help the kids reel in a big one. The first 20 vehicles will receive a free day-pass to the park.
This event is part of the Canada-wide celebration, National Fishing Week, and Ontario’s Family Fishy Week, July 6 through 14 (see link below)
Organizers would like to thank this year’s generous sponsors, including Fishing Forever, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to funding worthwhile fishing, conservation and education projects, the Police Association of Ontario, Rainbow Falls Provincial Park, Canadian Tire, Ministry of Natural Resources Nipigon District, Ontario Provincial Police Schreiber and Nipigon, Ontario Provincial Police Association (OPPA), .
