“TIP” LEADS TO ARREST AND DRUG CHARGES
MARATHON ON – Friday May 31, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon detachment received information that a quantity of illegal drugs was being brought into Marathon for distribution.
At 10:50 pm OPP officers stopped a burgundy Chevrolet Cavalier on Peninsula Road in the Town of Marathon.
Police detained both male occupants and removed the driver from the vehicle. When officers were speaking to the passenger, they observed a clear plastic bag containing cannabis marihuana in the front occupant area of the vehicle. The passenger was arrested and searched and officers located more marihuana in his pants pocket. The passenger admitted to possession of the drugs and the driver was released unconditionally.
Warren REID, 32, from Marathon ON was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and released from custody with a Promise to Appear in Marathon court on August 21, 2013. Approximately 380 grams of cannabis marihuana was seized in the search of the vehicle.
