Info Session with Businesses in Terrace Bay
TERRACE BAY, ON – An information session was held on June 11, 2013 organized by the Township of Terrace Bay and AV Terrace Bay Inc. (AVTB) in partnership with the Township of Schreiber. It was intended to serve as a means of updating the business community on some of the projects in Terrace Bay and the region’s largest employer AV Terrace Bay Inc. Approximately 80 people attended the information session with businesses from Terrace Bay & Schreiber invited to learn more.
Terrace Bay CAO Carmelo Notarbartolo updated the businesses on some of the ways Terrace Bay has had to adjust to the boom created by the restart of the mill, including planning for possible housing and waterfront development. He thanked the mill for their impact on the Community and acknowledged the great relationship the Municipality has with the new owners.
AVTB CEO Giovanni Iadeluca outlined the operations of the mill, some of the challenges they are facing, and their future projects. Some of his department managers as well as employees of the Aditya Birla Group also gave presentations discussing topics like health and safety, environmental initiatives, operations, and woodlands. Mr. Iadeluca explained how the mill has had to incur a large number of expenses to restart but this was considered in the plan when the Aditya Birla Group bought the mill. The purchase was a strategic long-term investment by the $40 Billion dollar Aditya Birla Group that the business community should look forward to some great things on the horizon.
Aguasabon Chamber of Commerce President Jason Nesbitt said “After learning where the mill is at and the direction they are headed, I am very excited for our business community. The commitment by AV Terrace Bay Inc. and long-term stability will have a huge effect on the success of our business community. We are looking forward to building a great relationship with AV Terrace Bay Inc.” For more information, read the detailed article in the June 18 edition of the Terrace Bay Schreiber News or visit www.terracebay.ca.
