Director of Community Services Provides Details RE: Oasis Pool Closure
MANITOUWADGE, ON – May 25th the Township of Manitouwadge Community Services released the following statement:
The Township of Manitouwadge, Community Services Department would like to inform the public that the Oasis Pool will be closed until further notice due to a temporary chemical imbalance in the pool. We have been assured by the Public Health Inspector that there is no demonstrable health risk to the public as a result of this chemical imbalance. The public will be notified as soon as the pool is ready to be re-opened. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
OntarioNewsNorth.com contacted Community Services Director Paula McCloskey for some additional information regarding the closure and potential re-opening date; Ms. McCloskey promptly replied providing these additional details:
- The Community Services Department was made aware of the Oasis Pool’s recent water test results by the Public Health Inspector via phone call on Tuesday am at approximately 10:15am.
- The suggested alterations indicated by the Health Inspector to the chemical process of our pool operation were made at 10:30 am on Tuesday am.
- A new water sample was taken on Wednesday am first thing and immediately sent to the Public Health Lab in Thunder Bay for re- testing,
- It is our hope to have the results of these tests by Friday June 28th.
- We have been assured by the Public Health Inspector that there is no demonstrable health risk to the Public as a result of this chemical imbalance.
- The test results will determine when the Oasis Pool is ready to be re-opened.
