Fee-Fi-Fo-Fum! That is the trademark call of the Giant in the popular fairytale “Jack and the Beanstalk”. This fairytale has been told in households over the past several decades and now has a modern day movie adaptation- Jack the Giant Slayer-which releases on DVD and Blu-Ray this week. There are a grand total of nine new releases this week. Please see below for a brief synopsis of each of this week’s new movies;

NEW RELEASES ON DVD & BLU-RAY

Jack the Giant Slayer: starring Nicholas Hoult – Jack, a young farmhand fighting for a kingdom and the love of a princess, opens a gateway between the worlds of humans and giants. (Adventure/Fantasy) (DVD, Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

21 and Over: starring Miles Teller and YouTuber Justin Chon – Three friends reunite to celebrate the 21st birthday of Jeff Chang. After a night of clubbing and heavy drinking, the friends find themselves lost, and must get Jeff Chang home before his medical school interview! Movie 43: starring over 20 of today’s top actors and actresses- A man pitches his idea for short movies to a high ranking Hollywood executive. The problem- the movies are bizarre, vulgar and controversial! (Comedy) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Numbers Station: starring John Cusack and Malin Akerman– After an undercover mission goes very wrong, an agent is reassigned to guard a top-secret numbers station. Not long after, the station falls under attack and the agent must fight to protect the station and his co-worker. (Thriller) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Brass Teapot: starring Michael Angarano and Juno Temple – When a couple discovers that a brass teapot gives them money whenever they hurt themselves, they must come to terms with how far they are willing to go. (Comedy/Fantasy) (DVD)

Dino King– A young dinosaur is torn away from his family by a tyrannosaurus. Now, alone for the first time, the young dinosaur must learn to survive on his own. (Adventure) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
Quartet: starring Maggie Smith– At a home for retired musicians, the annual concert to celebrate a woman’s birthday is disrupted by the arrival of a high-maintenance new tenant. (Drama/Comedy) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Stoker: starring Nicole Kidman – After the death of her father, a young woman’s uncle moves into the home to live with her and her unstable mother. Before long, the young woman suspects that her uncle may have ulterior motives. (Drama) (DVD ) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Summoned: starring Cuba Gooding Jr. – Five years after being part of a jury that sentenced a serial killer to death, a woman notices that her fellow jurors are dying one after another. Along with the local authorities, she must solve the mysterious murders before it’s too late. (Thriller) (DVD)

FOR THE GAMERS

Gamers far and wide are buzzing as more details are being unveiled surrounding the release of the new Xbox One and Playsation 4. Microsoft has confirmed that the Xbox One will release in November while Playstation 4 will become available sometime in the fall or early winter.
