Cochrane’s Paige Johnson Named 50th Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant

SUDBURY, ON – Northern Lights were shining brightly at the Fraser Auditorium of Laurentian University on Saturday May 4, 2013 as 43 of Northern Ontario’s most exceptional young ladies aged 14-23 participated in the Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant 2013. Participating in an action packed weekend of motivational and educational workshops, photo shoots, scholastic testing, interviews, training, a fitness competition and many delegate bonding experiences, the contestants embraced a life changing weekend enabling them to recognize their potential and gain confidence for future endeavours.

Seventeen year old Paige Johnson from Cochrane was the judges choice as Miss North Ontario Regional Canada Pageant. Johnson having been crowned the 50^th Miss Cochrane (Chimo) earlier this spring will proudly bring the Northern title back to the northern community of the only polar bear habitat in the north.

1^st RunnerUp was Miss Hearst, Kara Fillion;
2^nd RunnerUp was the Eastern Region’s Shelby-Lyn Bouckley (originally from Kirkland Lake);
3^rd RunnerUp was Lakehead’s (Thunder Bay) Samantha Romeo;
4^th RunnerUp was Espanola’s Amy Mikkelsen.

Miss North Ontario Regional Canada 2013 Paige Johnson will now move on to the Miss Teen Canada World Pageant in Toronto later this summer with the following additional delegates selected as Northern Ontario National Finalists as well;

Espanola – Josee Poulin;
Verner – Anyane St. Jean;
South Porcupine Celeste Levis;
Thunder Bay – Jacqueline Marsh;
Wawa – Hannah Simard;
Hearst – Kara Fillion;
Muskoka District – Kristen Pilon;
New Liskeard Kayleigh Siermachesky

Selected as National Finalists for Miss Universe Canada 2014 next May in Toronto were:

Superior Greenstone – Brittanya Henley;
Sudbury District – Sophie Martel;
Port Arthur – Nerissa McRury

Highlight of the evening was the annual donation to Northern Ontario Families of Children with Cancer NOFCC where each participating delegate held a fundraiser in her community raising awareness for this worthy charity and making an outstanding donation of $46,000.00!! President Cheryl Kozera proudly announced the amount to the cheering audience of over 500 people referencing that this “Is beauties with a purpose, making a difference in the North and their communities”.
