Snow Doens’t Slow the Share the Care Participants!

MANITOUWADGE, ON– Saturday, May 11th, the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group held their annual Share the Care Walk & BBQ in spite of some VERY unseasonable temperatures. Some great forsight on the part of the MCAG saw the event moved to the Community Clubhouse, to ensure participants would have a place to warm up and enjoy their burgers (and of course make their donations).  The event was again included as a pit-stop for the Amazing Walk (II) which also encourage participation and awareness in the community; more than 100 people attended the fundraiser with 76 walkers braving the snow.

Though there is one pledge sheet yet to be submitted (walker is out of town) a whopping $5672.40 was already raised through the Share the Care Walk & BBQ.  MCAG Volunteer and President Jackie Jung had this message for those who had shown their support:

“You are amazing! Many thanks to all our walkers who braved the snow – yes snow!! to support our group. 76 of you walked during the blizzard. Thank you to those who donated, sponsored walkers, came to the BBQ – yeah for our fearless Manitouwadge Firefighters for braving the elements to cook for us. To our media sponsors – the Echo, OntarioNewsNorth.com and CFNO – we couldn’t do it without you! And we are most grateful to Paula, Shawna and Chris from the Township for giving us a warm place to call home for the walk!!”

“‘To Mme Faucault-Clark’s class and Ethel – unbelievable!, Myke, Judy Kett, Cindy Franklin, Jackie Vezeau who took on getting sponsors – a huge thumbs up!” said Jung adding that “The smiling faces of Mme Faucault-Clark’s class warmed our hearts with their generosity and joy of giving – we are so proud of them!”

Congratulations to all those who participated on being an important part in this vital fundraising event for the Manitouwadge Cancer Assistance Group.
