NOTICE TO RESIDENTS OF TERRACE BAY
RESIDENTIAL SPRING CLEAN-UP WEEK MAY 18-26, 2013
TERRACE BAY, ON – Use of the landfill site will be of charge from May 18 to May 26, 2013 inclusive for residents of the Township of Terrace Bay. Landfill site will be closed Monday, May 20, 2013 for the Victoria Day Holiday and re-opened Tuesday to Friday from 8am to 5pm, Saturday and Sunday from 1pm to 5pm. Regular hours will resume on Monday, May 27, 2013. Public Works will do townsite pick-up from residential properties only, commercial and business properties are not included.
There will be no pick-up of tires or demolition material. Large quantities of concrete will not be picked up (i.e. sidewalks or old foundations). Tires, demolition material or concrete can be delivered to the landfill site by the property or business owner and regular rates will apply. Demolition material includes roofing material, dismantled garage or shed, etc.
Residents are asked to place rubbish close to the roadside and in proper containers where necessary to permit easy access for loading.
Freezers or refrigerators require certification that refrigerant has been removed before they will be accepted for pick-up or disposal at the landfill site.
Owners of large items on residential property who wish to dispose of same free of charge should contact the Municipal Office at 825-3315 no later than Tuesday May 21.
Pick-up of large items will be done only on Tuesday and Wednesday of clean-up week.
PLEASE DO NOT DEPOSIT MATERIALS ELIGIBLE FOR THE MAY 25TH HAZARDOUS WASTE RECYCLING DAY (to be held 12PM (Noon) to 3pm at the Tourist Information Centre). Materials eligible for Hazardous Waste Recycling Day include: paint, stains, single-use batteries, car batteries, propane tanks, pesticides, fertilizers, compact fluorescent lights and more. Electronic waste will not be eligible. however, it can be dropped off at the landfill or picked up during Spring Clean-Up week. This will be the only “Hazardous Waste Day” held in 2013. PLEASE NOTE: Public Works will not pick up derelict vehicles, i.e. old cars, trucks or trailers. These items can be delivered to the landfill site by the residential owner and no tipping fees will apply.
Commercial, Industrial and Multi-Residential Properties During Clean-Up Week
- No steel, including but not limited to, vehicles and vehicle parts;
- No hazardous waste will be accepted;
- Municipality will only provide pick-up on residential properties;
- Maximum quantity wil be restricted to one dump truck load or five (5) 1/2 toon loads per property;
- The Landfill Stie attendant has the right to turn away vehicles should they feel it is necessary. Any disagreements will be resolved through Public Works Manager at a later date.
