INSIDER REVIEW

I’ll be back. That’s the familiar catch phrase used by Arnold Schwarzenegger in his 1984 sci-fi classic “The Terminator”. Most movie fans probably assumed that Arnold’s acting days were over when in 2003 he decided to pursue a career in politics which landed him as the governor of California. His surprise tenure as governor lasted until 2011 when he decided to not seek re-election. Instead, he reverted back to his trusty catch phrase and indeed made a comeback to the acting scene. At 65 years young, Arnold is the small town sheriff in this week’s new release- The Last Stand. It is one of six new titles this week.

Below is a brief synopsis of each;

NEW RELEASES ON DVD & BLU-RAY

The Last Stand: starring Arnold Schwarzenegger– A ruthless gang member busts out of prison and makes a high speed getaway towards a tiny town near the Mexican border. The only thing standing in his way is the local sheriff and his crew of inexperienced officers. (Action/Comedy) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Parker: starring Jason Statham and Jennifer Lopez– After a high-risk heist at a country fair, a professional thief is double-crossed by his new crew. Beautiful Creatures: starring Viola Davis and Alden Ehrenreich– A young man meets a mysterious new girl in his small southern town. Together, they uncover dark secrets about their respective families, their history and their town. (Drama/Fantasy) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Side Effects: starring Jude Law, Channing Tatum and Rooney Mara– A young woman suffering from depression is prescribed a new medication by her doctor. Her world begins to unravel as the medications have unexpected side effects. (Drama/Thriller) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!

Stand-Up Guys: starring Al Pacino, Christopher Walken and Alan Arkin– After spending years in prison, a pair of aging criminals tries to get the old gang back together to get caught up on what they’ve been missing out on. Open Road: starring Camilla Belle and Andy Garcia– A young woman abandons her old life and embarks on a journey around the country where she finds not only herself, but love in its many forms. (Drama) (DVD)

Fast & Furious Showdown: Based on the hugely popular movie franchise of the same name, this game offers 31 missions involving car-racing, stunts and various challenges taking place all around the world. Players can choose from existing cars or make their own customizable rides. Available to rent or buy for PS3 and 360.
