WAWA, ON – March 2, 2013 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Wawa Detachment were advised of an assault on progress on McKinley Street. Upon arrival the victim was transported to Lady Dunn Health Centre by Algoma EMS. Witnesses advised that the victim had been struck in the head with a bottle of liquor and then punched and kicked by two assailants.
OPP arrested two individuals that witnesses indicated were involved. Arrested and charged are 18-year-old Branden SIEGMAN of Wawa and 39-year-old Renee HINZ of Wawa.
SIEGMAN stands charged with:
- Assault with a Weapon
- Aggravated Assault.
HINZ is charged with:
Both accused have been held in custody pending a Bail Hearing in Sault Ste. Marie.
