MANITOUWADGE, ON – In December the Economic Development Committee sponsored a contest for schools to build an ice sculpture in their school yards. Students worked diligently (CLICK HERE for photo/article) to create a unique and interesting sculpture on the lawn in front of the school.  They used water balloons to add colour to their chilly creation and before they had completed their chef d’oeuve many cars and passers by had slowed to admire their creation.

The students were very excited to learn they were the lucky winners who would receive a grand prize of $100 Extreme Dollars. Of course it then became another contest for them decide on what to do with their $100.00. As in the true spirit of MPS students – who in the past have proven to be young responsible citizens, they decided to ‘give back’ of their fortune to those less fortunate.

Student Council members are seen above holding bags and bags of non-perishable food items that they purchased at our local grocery store. These food items have been delivered to our local food bank. Way to go students of Manitouwadge Public School and be proud of one more compassionate step toward adulthood!
