SCHREIBER, ON – January 29th, Holy Angels Catholic School held their Literacy Day events with the theme of 15 minutes of Fun.

Students were split into 4 multi grade teams.  The teams were named “Mad Gabbers”, “Wii Love Books”, “Book Crawlers” and “Maniac Mocking Jays”.  Each team had 15 minutes at each station.  While the Grade 7/8 students were singing Karoake, students in the gym got to play a life size game of snakes and ladders.  The Kindergarten students were the pawns.  Students had to answer questions on word families, grammar and more.  In the resource room students make inferences on comic strips.  In the Grade 5/6 room students read a book called Casey and Derek on the Ice and then created their own hockey jerseys for their literacy day team.

Through these events Holy Angels students learned about the many fun ways literacy is part of everything they do making Literacy Day 2013 at Holy Angels a great success.
