NIPIGON, ON – On January 19, 2013 at 4:40 p.m. officers of the Nipigon Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call of a single motor vehicle collision on Hwy 11 and 17, Town of Nipigon. The driver of a pick-up truck lost control of his vehicle and entered the west bound ditch. Police attended the scene and after speaking to the driver found that he had been drinking.
The 59 year old male driver, Darwin CHRISTENSEN of Hwy 11, Township of Nipigon, was arrested and has been charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Operate and Motor Vehicle with Over 80 milligrams of Blood Alcohol Content contrary to the Criminal Code. The male is to appear in Nipigon court on February 26, 2013 to answer to these charges.
The driver was not injured in the collision.
