Ontario’s Premier-designate to be Sworn-In February 11

Ontario’s next Premier and her cabinet will be sworn-in on February 11 at Queen’s Park.

Kathleen Wynne became Premier-designate this morning after she met with The Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario. He asked her to form the next government of Ontario.

On February 11, the Premier-designate and cabinet members will take their oaths of office. The first cabinet meeting will take place following the ceremony.

  • Kathleen Wynne was first elected to the Ontario legislature in 2003, in the riding of Don Valley West. She became leader of the Ontario Liberal party at the party’s convention in Toronto on Jan. 26th, 2013.
  • The Honourable David C. Onley is the 28th Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.
  • The Premier-designate presents recommendations on ministerial appointments to the Lieutenant Governor. It is the Lieutenant Governor who formally appoints ministers.
