Multiple Holiday Drug Seizures
TRAFFIC STOPS LEAD TO DRUG SEIZURES
MARATHON, ON – Over the holidays, officers from the Marathon Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) seized illegal drugs from three different vehicles during three different vehicle stops.
December 27, 2012
At 9:45 am a Mazda 3 was travelling on Highway 17 east of Marathon and stopped by officers to check the sobriety of the driver. During the traffic stop, the driver was arrested for being a suspended driver. Officers located approximately 8 grams of cannibus marihuana in the vehicle.
James BARTLETT, 40, from Toronto ON was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance and was released from custody with a court date of March 23, 2013 in Marathon ON.
December 28, 2012
At 11:05 am a white Dodge Ram pickup was stopped on Highway 17 near Dunc Lake. Officers detected the presence of cannibus marihuana in the cab of the pickup and arrested the two male occupants for possession of a controlled substance. During a search of the vehicle, officers located approximately 2.2 kgs of cannibus marihuana in luggage. The value of the drugs was approximately $44,000.
David James MEURKES, 21, and Joshua PECK-DOMAN, 23, both from Yorkton SK were arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. Both were released from custody on conditions and will appear in Marathon court on April 10, 2013 to answer to the charges.
December 29, 2012
At 11:30 am a gold Toyota Camry was stopped on Highway 17 east of Marathon ON. Officers observed marihuana in the vehicle and immediately arrested the female driver and male passenger for possession of cannibus marihuana. During the search of the vehicle, officers located 186 pills identified as Methylenedioxyamphetamine, commonly known as Ecstasy. The value of the drugs was approximately $4600.
Caroline BOURDON, 36, from St-Felix-De-Valois QC and Stephan NOEL, 41, from Lousiville QC were arrested and charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking. Both were remanded into custody awaiting further bail hearings.
