MALE CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION OF A SNOWMOBILE

MARATHON ON – Tuesday January 1, 2013 approximately 4:00 pm, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Marathon detachment stopped a motorized snow vehicle on Camp 19 Road in Marathon ON.

The rider of the snow machine pulled up to officers and was asked to remove his helmet. The officer spoke to the male and detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The male was slurring his words and had red blood shot eyes. The rider failed to provide a suitable sample into a roadside alcotest and after 6 attempts he was arrested for failing to provide a sample.

Armand ST AMAND, 58, from Marathon ON was charged with “Failing to provide a Breath Sample”.  The accused was released from custody and is to appear in Marathon Criminal Court on February 27, 2013.

The public is encouraged to call 911 or contact police at 1-800-310-1122 whenever suspecting that a driver is impaired while operating a motor vehicle whether it is a Car, Truck, Motorcycle, ATV, Snowmobile, Boat or even an Airplane.
