LONGLAC, ON – December 30, 2012 at 4:53 am members of the Greenstone Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a call for assistance in locating an overdue female subject. Officers located the female shortly after receiving the call but learned through their investigation that she had allegedly been sexually assaulted that evening while receiving a taxi cab ride in the Longlac area.
As a result of the police investigation, the driver of the taxi cab, Thomas ABERNOT, age 49 years of Longlac, ON was arrested and charged with sexual assault and later released by way of court order. His next court appearance is scheduled to be held on January 9, 2013 in Longlac.
Geraldton OPP Detachment is continuing their investigation into the matter. Anyone with information pertaining to this investigation is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
