With things finally getting back to normal after the busy holiday season, it’s time for the new releases to return on a weekly basis. This week, ten films make their debut headlined by the Bradley Cooper comedy Hit & Run and the Tim Burton animated production, Frankenweenie! Below is a brief synopsis for each of this week’s new releases;
NEW RELEASES
Hit and Run: starring Dax Sheppard, Kristen Bell and Bradley Cooper– A man leaves his place in a witness protection program in order to get his girlfriend to an important job interview in LA. Along the way, he is chased by her crazy Ex-Boyfriend and the people he testified against in court. (Comedy) (DVD and Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
Frankenweenie: featuring the voices of Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara– A boy conducts a science experiment to bring his dog Sparky back to life, only with unexpected results! (Family) (DVD, Blu-Ray and 3D Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
Dredd: starring Karl Urban– In a violent, futuristic city a cop teams with a trainee to take down a gang that’s dealing a dangerous reality-altering drug. (Sc-Fi/Action) (DVD and 2D/3D Blu-Ray) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
Pathfinders In the Company of Strangers- The true story of the volunteer paratroopers whose deadly mission was to land 30 minutes before the Normandy invasion and set up the top-secret navigation equipment needed to guide the main airborne assault on D-Day. Amazing Racer: starring Daryl Hannah and Louis Gossett Jr– After the unexpected passing of her father, a young lady sets out to find the mother that she has never met. Along the way, she befriends a horse and his trainer and together they form a bond that leads to personal healing and success. (Drama) (DVD)
Compliance– Based on a disturbing true story of prank caller who convinces a fast food manager that one of her employees is wanted by the police. (Drama/Crime) (DVD)
Ghoul– A group of kids put their lives on the line to track down who (or what) is responsible for a number of mysterious disappearances in their town. (Thriller) (DVD)
Little Red Wagon– After hearing about youth poverty and homelessness on TV, a young boy makes it his mission to help every underprivileged child in America. Based on a True Story! (Drama) (DVD) Also available to rent at 2 Doors Down in Manitouwadge!
Lost Valentine: starring Jennifer Love Hewitt and Betty White- A journalist learns love can transcend time as she discovers the story of Navy pilot Neil Thomas who, after being summoned to war, makes a promise to return home to his bride by their next anniversary. For sixty years Caroline Thomas keeps her promise by waiting at the same train station where her husband shipped off decades earlier. Now is Good: starring Dakota Fanning– A girl dying of leukemia compiles a list of things she’d like to do before passing away- including finding an ideal partner. (Romance/Drama) (DVD)
FOR THE GAMERS
The post Christmas release schedule is often not very kind to gamers and new games are usually few and far between. This week is no exception as no new games are released. Stay tuned though as next week will mark the debut of the newest installment in the Devil May Cry franchise….
