NEW PHYSICIAN, PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT, and NURSE PRACTIONER JOINS MARATHON FAMILY HEALTH TEAM
MFHT Physician Recruiter Brett Redden
We are pleased to announce that Family Physician Dr. Nikki Sturwold, Physician Assistant Jodi Kennedy, and Nurse Practitioner Alexis Ryley have joined Marathon Family Health Team.
Dr. Sturwold graduated medical school from University of Dublin in Ireland before completing her Family Medicine residency at University of British Columbia. She contacted our physician recruiter, Brett Redden, after noticing a job posting distributed to graduating residents across the country. After some dialogue via telephone and email she decided to make a 6 month commitment to Marathon. She came to Marathon to help cover Dr. Brunskill’s maternity leave from July 1-Jan 1st. Over the past 6 months she has enjoyed her medical experience, as well as the community, so was asked to sign on as a full time physician with the team. She gladly accepted and will now be accepting new patients.
Jodi Kennedy graduated from the Physician Assistant Education Program at McMaster University in July 2012. She met Brett Redden, our physician recruiter, at a recruiting conference in Toronto last May. Brett discussed our opportunities with Jodi, and the rest is history. Her and her partner Geof Osborne moved from Orillia, Ontario to Marathon in late September. Geof is a certified teacher and does supply teaching in the Marathon region. They both enjoy watching movies at the Marathon Theatre, photography, and spending time with friends and family. Jodi hopes to learn to cross country ski as well as snowshoe this winter. Jodi and Geof are very excited about being new members of the Marathon community.
Alexis Ryley graduated from University of Lakehead in Thunder Bay in July of 2012. She is originally from Vernon, BC and lives with her new husband Chris Crawford. Her husband Chris Crawford is also a Nurse Practitioner who is currently employed at Barrick Gold.
With the continuing of our active physician recruiting program we are excited and confident about more announcements for 2013.
