SAULT STE. MARIE, ON – A new collective agreement covering Full Time Teachers has been approved by the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board (HSCDSB) and the local unit of the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA), subject to approval of the Ministry of Education.
Trustees of the HSCDSB unanimously approved the agreement at their monthly meeting on Wednesday, December 12, 2012.
“The Board of Trustees is very happy with the efforts of its negotiating team and the OECTA team in achieving this agreement in a timely manner. This agreement brings stability to all our school communities,” said HSCDSB Chair Lindsay Liske.
On Tuesday, December 11, 2012 OECTA’s Full Time Teachers voted 72% to approve the agreement.
“The members considered our recommendation regarding the agreement and have spoken,” said OECTA Local President Marcie Tombari.
A ratification vote on a tentative agreement covering Occasional Teachers is pending.
