Deer Hunt Enforcement Blitz Leads To Charges & 2 Deers Seized
Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers issued a number of warnings and charges while conducting a five-day enforcement blitz during the deer hunt in Northeastern Ontario.
The blitz took place from November 5 to 9 in parts of northeastern Ontario where the regular gun season opened on November 5, 2012. It targeted the Kirkland Lake, North Bay, Sudbury and Sault Ste. Marie areas.
Conservation officers checked 226 hunters and discovered 47 violations, leading to 35 charges and 12 warnings. Officers also seized two deer.
Charges were laid for a range of offences, including:
- having loaded firearms in vehicles and boats
- illegal possession of unencased firearms at night
- hunting without a licence
- trespassing to hunt.
