Terrace Bay Receives FedNor Funding For Waterfront Development
Harper Government invests to support community economic development and growth in Terrace Bay
TERRACE BAY, ON — November 7th, the Honourable Tony Clement, Minister for FedNor, announced a Government of Canada investment to help support community economic and sustainable waterfront development in the Township of Terrace Bay.
“This announcement will help provide Terrace Bay with the tools it needs to identify and prioritize viable economic opportunities through enhanced decision-making and planning,” said Minister Clement. “This investment supports the Township’s long-term goal of attracting more visitors by highlighting investment opportunities that will capitalize on the region’s tourism potential to create jobs, growth and prosperity.”
The township is using $130,000 in FedNor funding to conduct a waterfront feasibility study to determine the best development options for the Terrace Bay beach. Consultants will produce a detailed waterfront development plan that outlines recommendations on how to grow the community’s economy through targeted investments.
“Thanks to FedNor support, we will have the analysis we need to pursue our best bets to help strengthen and grow our tourism industry,” stated Michael King, Mayor of Terrace Bay. “After revitalizing our downtown, this is the next logical step for us in attracting more visitors to the area.”
The funding announced today is provided through FedNor’s Northern Ontario Development Program, which supports projects that strengthen community economic development, enhance business growth, and facilitate innovation throughout the region.
