MARATHON, ON – It was another incredible Trick or Eat food drive in Marathon this year  as residents gave generously outdoing the previous year’s collection once again as they collected an estimated total of $11,655.00 worth of non-perishable food donations for their local food bank.

About 55 volunteers including:

  • 3 who helped set-up,
  • 4 donation sorters,
  • 8 drivers, and
  • 40 Trick or Eaters (those who go door-to-door)

collected approximately 4,662 food items. Among the volunteers who canvassed door to door were also members of the Marathon High School Falcons and the Marathon Air Cadets.

Organizer Karen Richards thanked all those who supported the initiative “This couldn’t have happened without the sponsorship of Barrick Hemlo, DH Foods and the support of OntarioNewsNorth.com, Marathon Mercury, CFNO and the Marathon Community Collective/Food Bank. Many thanks to the people of Marathon who donated so generously” said Richards adding how touched she was that “People were waiting with not only with 1 or 2 items, but many had full bags of food ready or entire cases of soup.”
