Aguasabon Chamber of Commerce Becomes More Active
The Aguasabon Chamber of Commerce, like the business community it supports in the Terrace Bay/Schreiber region, has faced some difficult times over the past few years. The Chamber has on two occasions taken a year off of collecting dues during downturns in the local economy to help the businesses it works for. A decline in the number of volunteers and board members has also added to the stress on the operation and the small cadre of directors they have are frequently overworked in their own businesses that they have been unable to complete new initiatives.
However, things are starting to change at the Chamber. The group recently held a meeting with a great turnout from the business community and there is a sense of reinvigoration again for the organization. The Chamber is organizing this year’s Moonlight Madness as a means of showing the business community the benefits of the Chamber and will present some plans for the future to further promote the regions businesses. The Chamber is also starting a project soon in cooperation with the Township of Terrace Bay to dedicate in interns staff time to promoting the Chamber and organizing more events and initiatives.
Chamber President Jason Nesbitt says:“We are looking forward to 2013 being a great rebound year for our region. The investment by the Aditya Birla Group was what our economy needed to stabilize it and now is the time for an active Chamber to start with growth projects”.
The Aguasabon Chamber of Commerce has a webpage on the Municipal Websites at www.asuperiorchamber.com and is looking for volunteers from current or retired business owners. For more information, please feel free to contact the Chamber President Jason Nesbitt at 824-2220.
