MANITOUWADGE, ON – Recently Manitouwadge Public School Junior and Intermediate students volunteered to take part in a very important learning venture.  The four volunteers were given hand washing technique training by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit team learning an important way to stop the spread of germs.

Having been trained in proper hand washing techniques, these students soon became experienced trainers themselves.  The quartet visited their peers in every class with sharing their knowledge.   Not only did they impart invaluable information to every child in school, they also took another step as leaders in their school community.  Leadership learned and practiced as an elementary school student usually translates into similar roles being sought out in secondary school and then beyond into a student’s adult life as they strive to become leaders in our community.  In addition to the benefits of having learned a new skill, these students also honed their public speaking skills and gained self-confidence; important tools which Manitouwadge Public School works to offer to each student, at one time or another, during their time with us.

We were very proud and appreciative of their time and efforts, congratulations to all four of these young leaders on a job very well done!
