OPP ISSUE A PUBLIC SAFETY NOTICE
THUNDER BAY, ON – Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) remind residents of communities throughout Northwestern Ontario to remain vigilant regarding ensuring their personal safety.
As documented in the media, OPP are supporting an investigation by the RCMP into a possible unlawful captivity incident in Nova Scotia and the ensuing search for suspects. One man was taken into custody by members of the OPP Greenstone Detachment on Sunday, September 30. A second person remains at large and may be travelling through this area to western Canada.
Police are appealing to the public for their assistance to locate this person and a vehicle he may be driving (a 2003 Hyundai Elantra with bearing a Nova Scotia licence plate FBP 233). The public is asked not to approach the man but to notify police if he is observed.
OPP remind the public to always ensure their personal safety and prevent becoming victims of crime by:
- Being aware of your surroundings.
- Being aware of any stranger approaching you.
- Reporting suspicious activity to police.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the OPP or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). CrimeStoppers does not subscribe to call display and you will remain anonymous. Being anonymous, you will not be asked to testify in court and your information may lead to a cash reward of up to $2,000.00.
