MPP Michael Mantha Questions Minister of Natural Resources Michael Gravelle Re: Public Lands Act
QUEEN’S PARK, ON – Algoma-Manitoulin MPP Michael Mantha rose in question period today to ask Natural Resources Minister Michael Gravelle about allegations that some MNR employees are acquiring crown lands contrary to Public Lands Act.
ONTora has long made allegations of this kind though in the past they were labelled as heresay and mostly seemed to be dismissed (though we have no confirmation regarding whether or not any were investigatin Mr. Mantha’s question would lead one to believe they have yet to be)- has something new been brought to Mr. Mantha’s attention that will finally aid in getting some clear answers for the residents of Northern Ontario in regards to these allegations?
**NOTE FROM THE EDITOR: When MPP Michael Gravelle was 1st assigned the portfolio of Natural Resources OntarioNewsNorth.com spent several months requesting an interview to bring people up to date on the situation with Crown Land Use Atlas Harmonization (CLUAH), even visiting his office in Thunder Bay (4+hrs from where we are based) in person to try and communicate the urgency of providing Northern Ontario residents, especially those who stood to be most immediately affected by CLUAH in the Wawa District with clarity in regards to what the status of this pilot project was. In the beginning the response regarding Mr. Gravelle needing to familiarize himself with CLUAH and the MNR portfolio was understandable, a year later however we are much less understanding in regards to why the interview was never granted. (Mr. Gravelle was very accommodating the evening of his re-election as MPP for Thunder Bay-Superior North when we interviewed him.)
