Township Seeks Interested Persons for Nomination to Board of Nawinginokiima Forest Management Corporation
The first Local Forest Management Corporation (Nawiinginokiima Forest Management Corporation of NFMC) has been established to manage an area that is proposed to comprise five current management units – Nagagami, Big Pic, Pic River Ojibway, Black River and White River Forests. The seven communities of Pic Mobert First Nation, Ojibways of Pic River First Nation, Hornepayne First Nation, White River, Marathon, Manitouwadge and Hornepayne have been actively engaged in the establishment of NFMC and will be seeking expressions of interest from qualified people from their communities interested in being considered to be appointed to the board of directors for this new business venture.
NFMC is a Crown Agency, with Board members appointed by the Lieutenant Governor in Council through the Public Appointments Secretariat process (see the link to the PAS website to learn more http://www.pas.gov.on.ca/scripts/en/BoardDetails.asp?boardID=142740).

If you are interested in being nominated by the Township of Manitouwadge to be considered as a potential director of the NFMC, please express your interest by summarizing your qualifications in a cover letter or email, attaching a resume and submitting it to Cecile Kerster, Municipal Manager Clerk at ckerster@manitouwadge.ca or dropping it off at the Township Office by September 19, 2012.
We are looking for candidates that have knowledge and experience in one or more of the following areas:
- facilitation, communication and interpersonal skills
- corporate governance or previous board experience
- finance, demonstrated leadership, forestry, management
- human resources, business, law, information management
- natural resource management and/or environmental science
