Threads Fashion Show Tomorrow – Dress Rehearsal Yesterday A Success
MANITOUWADGE, ON – Threads, a used clothing and housewares store whose profits benefit the Manitouwadge Museum is holding thier first fashion tomorrow and anticipation is growing as volunteers gathered yesterday for a dress rehearsal at the Golden Age Club where the event is being held.
Organizer Donna Jalbert was pleased with how well the dress rehearsal yesterday evening unfolded. Amongst the flurry of activity, quick changes and narration began to come together for what looks like it will be a very entertaining event.
In addition to Mrs. Jalbert who organized the event, more than a dozen volunteer models, of all ages, are participating in the fashion show which begins at 3pm tomorrow (Saturday, September 22nd) at the Golden Age Club. Â There will be snacks and refreshments available as well as an opportunity to purchase any of the runway ensembles after the show.
Mrs. Jalbert, who is also the one responsible for operating, with the help of volunteers, Threads in the lower level of the Manitouwadge Museum to which profits are donated explained that they were aware of the need to share donations with the Diabetes Clothesline which has been collecting gently used items donated by Manitouwadge residents for many years “Because we have a limited amount of space we are able to rotate inventory regularly, when new donations come in, we bag the old inventory and pass it along to the Clothesline to ensure that nothing is being wasted and everyone benefits”. Mrs. Jalbert was involved with a similar initiative in Ignace, where she lived before coming to Manitouwadge and when she moved here and saw an opportunity to assist with fundraising for the Museum while providing a much needed service to the community she jumped on the opportunity.
