MALE CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED OPERATION OF A MOTOR VEHICLE

MARATHON ON – Sunday September 23, 2012, at 6:30 pm, an officer from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Manitouwadge detachment was on patrol on North Regan Road north of Highway 17.

The officer observed a grey Nissan Versa parked in a small gravel pit with a male sitting in the driver’s seat with the keys in the ignition. The officer woke the male and after speaking to the male, the officer detected the odour of alcohol on the driver’s breath. The male was slurring his words and fumbling with documents. The male was arrested for Having Care and Control of a motor vehicle while impaired. The male was taken to the Manitouwadge OPP detachment for breath tests.

Thomas SIMEC, a 39 year old male, from Georgetown Ontario was charged with “Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle” and “Operate a Motor Vehicle with over 80mg of Alcohol in 100ml of Blood”.  The accused was released from custody and is to appear in Manitouwadge Criminal Court on November 14, 2012.

The public is encouraged to call 911 or contact police at 1-800-310-1122 whenever suspecting that a driver is impaired while operating a motor vehicle whether it is a Car, Truck, Motorcycle, ATV, Snowmobile, Boat or even an Airplane.
