Twp of Manitouwadge Testing Siren This Week
MANITOUWADGE, ON – August 22, 2012 at 10:00 am the Township of Manitouwadge will be conduction a test on the emergency siren.
This test is to familiarize the community with the sound of the siren that forms part of the Manitouwadge Emergency Plan.
If / when you hear the siren on August 22, please email jcurtis@manitouwadge.ca with the location you were when you heard the siren and with any comments. If you are unable to email, please phone and leave a message at 826‐3227 ext 243 with the same details.
About the Township Siren:
The Township maintains a large electric siren mounted on the roof of the Community Centre Arena.
The siren is used to notify the residents of a pending emergency situation affecting the Township. The siren can be heard throughout the town site area of the Township.
Upon hearing, the siren residents should refer to local media sources like OntarioNewsNorth.com for information and direction regarding the pending situation.
The sounding pattern of the siren shall be:
- Activated the siren for one full minute;
- Pause for one minute;
- Sound siren again for one full minute;
- Pause for one minute;
- Repeat this cycle three times; three cycles of 4 minutes each, total time of 12 minutes.
Testing of the siren, will be conducted monthly by the building maintenance staff.
