Restrictions Lifted On Outdoor Burning In Northeastern Ontario
McGuinty Government Removes Restricted Fire Zone
The Restricted Fire Zone order will be lifted in the Northeastern Ontario areas of Espanola, Sudbury, Manitoulin Island, North Bay and Temagami on August 3 at 6:00 p.m.
The Restricted Fire Zone was declared on July 13, 2012 due to extreme fire hazard conditions at the time. Campfires will be allowed for cooking and warmth in all areas of Northeastern Ontario with the lifting of the order. However, some municipalities may impose their own burning restrictions.
A Restricted Fire Zone for Algonquin Park remains in effect.
Forest fire prevention is everyone’s responsibility. Campers should keep campfires small and always ensure they are put out before leaving the site.
